Dr. Lisa Costa, a distinguished National Security Executive, has joined Seekr’s Advisory Board. The board aims to help federal agencies leverage vetted commercial AI technology tailored for government use, sensitive datasets, and air-gapped environments, to accelerate mission outcomes in a safe and responsible manner.

As a former Chief Technology and Innovation Officer for the U.S. Space Force, Dr. Costa has deep experience tackling the challenges and opportunities of applying emerging technologies like AI in defense and national security contexts. In her role, she will guide Seekr’s product roadmap investments, partnerships, and go-to-market strategies, and empower agencies with innovative and compliant AI solutions that meets their stringent security and compliance standards.

Agencies need trusted dual-use AI

As commercial AI adoption increases in the private sector, federal agencies continue to face challenges in leveraging the best commercial AI models. Off-the-shelf models often have governance, security, and compliance gaps, and they cannot safely access sensitive data in air-gapped environments. This makes commercial AI unsuitable for mission-critical use cases like providing decision support, protecting the warfighter, and predicting cyber threats.
